IGP - Income Generation Program
ACLAB launched IGA project in the year 2004 at Sharsha Upazila of Jessore district. Its goal is to assist the Poor, Landless, Small Farmers & petty Businessmen, people from Fishermen Community, Dalits and insolvent Women of the project area with monetary support to pursue a profession to attain self-reliance and live a decent life. The enrolled borrowers of the project area are provided loans at a minimum interest rate of 13.1% and at easy installments for a period of one year. They can obtain repeated loans after the payment of the earlier loans. At present the number of borrowers has reached 1500 most of who are engaged in small business, farming, fishery, hatchery, cattle head rising, poultry, tailoring, etc
The staffs identified the target population, aware them about the objectives and activities of the program and their roles and actions, provided them information and knowledge about different vocations/trades and provided training on those to be pursued by them to be socioeconomically self-reliant and lead life with social dignity.
