Basic Literacy Project
In order to realize the national goal of eradicating illiteracy from Bangladesh, ACLAB has been working on Basic literacy Program for illiterate adolescent and adult of 15-45 age group with strong determination and in cooperation with BNFE. Main Activities of the Project are Conduct baseline survey in project area to identify illiterate adolescent age group, Operate 300 schools in two shifts for illiterate adolescent, Each school shall operate 1 shift for men and 1 shift for women differently and participant will be 25 for each class .Arranging various extracurricular activities, such as, sports, excursions, debate, painting, Observing different national and international days, e.g. Child Rights Week, Mother’s Day, Child Labor Day, World Child Daughter Day, and World Education Day, Providing Non –formal Education.
Survey:
A base line survey has been done to select the target group, place for establishing satellite schools and probability of participating & cooperation of local people etc.
Selection of Teachers:
The educated local people have been selected as Teachers. Selection of Centers: The centers have been selected in remote areas where there are no schools and the poor children don’t have opportunities to get education facilities. The local people actively participated to establish the centers.
Formation of Center Management Committees:
A management committee was formed for each center including guardians, local elites and teachers.
Establish Community based learning center:
To ensure the active participation of the community people in this program, it was the strategy to establish the centers within the community.
Ensure non-formal education for underprivileged children in remote areas: The underprivileged children were considered as the target group of this program any they were provided with Non-formal Education.
Provide awareness training:
To make the target people aware, the target were provided sufficient knowledge on family planning, human rights, nutrition, health, women’s right based issue and prevention of Air born / Water born disease, gender equity, mothers and children care, preparation on disaster, HIV / AIDS, Arsenic etc.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Monitoring is key component to do a successful project implementation in social development sector, so that ACLAB always give priority on strong monitoring and supervision to proper implementation of a project. That is why, ACLAB has 5 members monitoring team headed by a Monitoring Coordinator. This team members always visit and monitoring the projects regularly/as per schedule of the project and use to provide feedback to the respective staffs of the project for further improvement of the project and report to the Executive Director of the organization. The respective staff of the project arrange to improve that weak point and send the report to the Monitoring Coordinator an Executive Director of the organization. So that due to the ACLAB”s accountability, all the projects implementation become successful.
A prescribed monitoring format is used to monitor the total activities of the project in each day, each week and monthly basis. The prescribed report will sent to donor and senior management of the organization. As per the report the senior management of the organization will take the step for the better implementation of the said project. Mid-Term evaluation will conduct by the organization and send to the donors and also to the Executive Director of the organization. Both the organization sees it and give proper instruction for improvement of the respective project. Final Evaluation is use done by the third party.
